How are you, my friend?
If you live in the United States, chances are good that you might be feeling unsettled, nervous, anxious, scared, irritated, frustrated, or exhausted. Heck, you might be feeling all of those things at once.
Even many of you outside of the U.S. might be feeling waves of strong energy emanating from our nation.
For those of you who may be blissfully unaware, it is Election Day in the United States of America.
These are not times for the faint of heart!

My friend and fellow coach, Shawn Buttner, and I just finished a short Facebook Live talking about kindness. I just posted the replay to YouTube for you.
Specifically, we were exploring the question of whether there is room for kindness on a day like this.
Now, of course, you know me and you likely know where I stand on this topic. However, I posed this as a question because I think it is worth thinking about and answering honestly.
I’d love for this email to be the thing that encourages you to consider for yourself: Is there room for kindness today?
Can I elbow out any fear or hatred or upset and invite in kindness for myself? What would that kindness look like?
Can I extend kindness to others? Who?
Can I offer kindness to people who don’t vote the same way I do? If I give kindness to people with different values, is that the same as agreeing with them or condoning actions I don’t believe in?
Ultimately, my friend, the question behind all of this is really: Do I believe in the power of kindness — and if so, how am I using it or not?

I’m showing up on your doorstep today. This is my own form of canvassing, I suppose.
This is what I believe:
Kindness doesn’t need a party.
Kindness can elbow out hatred.
Kindness can be the change we want to see.

We’re all in this together.
Thanks for who you are and for your beautiful spirit.
No matter what else you do today, be extra kind and gentle with yourself. And if there is a little extra kindness left over, please give it away!
Seek celebration — even in the dark corners,
