My Journey of Creating a Self-Love List

I will admit that the road to loving myself has been a long, curvy, and adventurous one to say the least! 

I have realized that for me, the experience of self-love is a process and a journey rather than somewhere I arrive and stop.  Each day, I choose to cultivate moments of sacred pause in which I remember my infinite worth and allow the truth of my value to be the place I launch decisions, plans, and relationships from.

Over the years I have been creating a self-love tool box filled with a collection of ways to honor and celebrate myself and in my work as an author and holistic psychotherapist, I share these tools with others as well.

I recently attended a workshop that Sherry was facilitating and she introduced me to process of making a “Love List.” During the workshop, Sherry guided us to take a few moments to create a love list for someone in our lives. As I began to write, I felt drawn to use this as an opportunity to acknowledge and love myself although that wasn’t exactly the assignment. (I’m generally a non-conformist.)

I came up with several things I love about me—  and found myself feeling warm and fuzzy, like someone draped a comforting blanket over my shoulders. This experience made me realize the huge value present in simply taking a few moments acknowledging and honoring myself.  I have since added this activity to my self-love tool box and gravitate toward it as needed for a little boost of tender loving care! 

I love that I can use the lists I’ve already created as a quick booster of self-compassion by keeping them available to review as needed or I have the option of adding to the lists or creating new ones as I desire.  I’m all about personalizing self-care rituals that resonate and having options to choose from so I don’t get bored with the same old, same old. 

I have found that the journey of allowing love to be present in our lives is a delicate balance of both giving and receiving. Have you shown yourself some love today?
