holiday

In continuing honor of letting ourselves, our lives, and this moment be “enough,” I want to share this poem (below) by David Whyte.

I used to listen to David Whyte’s CDs about a decade ago, but hadn’t heard him for many years. This poem dropped into my mind out of nowhere. Oh, how I love those moments. I wasn’t trying to think of anything or figure anything out. It was just a gift, like finding a ruby in vegetable drawer of the fridge.

Enough

Enough. These few words are enough.
If not these words, this breath.
If not this breath, this sitting here.

This opening to the life
we have refused
again and again
until now.
Until now

David Whyte (Where Many Rivers Meet)

I searched to find a recording of Whyte reciting these words, but alas, no go. However, I did find another poem of his that someone had used along with some old family images. I found it moving, like found photographs at a flea market. So beautiful. Here is Leave Everything You Know Behind.
