peopletowers

I thought about just posting this photograph, without any text. When I first saw it,  I was so struck by how magnificent the towers are. And how brilliant the artist was who designed them.

But I knew I had to give some credits and well, heck, in that case, maybe offer up what it means to me.  And of course, invite you to share your thoughts.

So, first of all, thanks to Bob for sending me the link. Second of all, here’s some text I pulled from the website:  “These designs were submitted as a competition entry in March of 2008 to Landsnet, Iceland national power transmission company who was working in collaboration with the Association of Icelandic Architects. This design transforms mundane electrical pylons into statues on the Icelandic landscape by making only small alterations to existing pylon design.”

There’s more you can read if you visit the site. But what struck me was the phrase, “making only small alterations.”  The architects took something so mundane and unappealing and with “small alterations” they turned it into poetry. I can’t help but look around at my life and think about what small tweaks I could make to everyday items and habits that might turn them into something extraordinary.

What am I seeing with old eyes that could be transformed into something alive and new?

Got any ideas? I’d love to hear ‘em.
