Hey, Delightful You,

Hello my friend!

How is your week going? I hope you’ve had some memorable moments with people you love. I hope you’ve seen a beautiful flower or a colorful bird or your favorite neighborhood pup.

More than anything, I hope you are being kind to yourself and appreciating who you are!

In my LoveGram to you last Sunday, I shared the joy of having just danced in Target with a group of brave and fun women!

I promised I would send you a couple photos and voila — there we are!

In the two photos up at the top of the page, you can see those of us who danced live in the grocery aisles to the song “Brave” by Sara Bareilles.

You can also see Wren and Carolyn, two wonderful women in my group coaching program, Olly Olly Oxen Free, who were the inspiration for our grocery prance-dance!

Unfortunately, Wren and Carolyn live on the East Coast, so they couldn’t join us here in the Bay Area. However, they hosted a Zoom call and literally danced together with us at the very same time. Isn’t that cool!?

My mentor, Brendon Burchard always says that our brains and bodies crave novelty. That it brings us alive. He says that novelty literally does something to the cells that make ’em feel peppy and happy!

(I imagine our cells squirming and squealing with joy like a litter of puppies!)

So, if that is the case and novelty is good for us. Why can it be so hard to break outta our shell and do things a little wacky or weird?

I think a big part of it is we that forget that we need to push ourselves out of our comfort zones. We need to jumpstart that novelty and fresh joy.

When the group of us gathered to dance at Target, we had a conversation about what it is that helps us feel free to do things that we might not normally do — like DANCE our way through the grocery aisles!

Here are some things we came up with that help us break free and live out loud:

  • Find role models who are self-expressive! Let them be your permission slip
  • Remind yourself that YOU could be someone’s role model if you are brave enough to try things.
  • Be curious and that helps curb the self-conscious part.
  • Be playful! It is hard to take yourself seriously when you are playing.
  • Let joy spark you and then get carried away on the waves of it.
  • Let go of expectations.
  • Tap into your body and get outta your head.

Pause for a moment and consider what helps YOU break free, push past the comfort zone, and be a little out-of-the box joyful.

What is it?

Can you think of the last time you let yourself feel that way or live out loud?

Today’s Celebration Moment is in honor of novelty and self-expression. Olly Olly Oxen Free, the name of my coaching group, means “It is safe to come out of hiding.”

That’s what I want for all of us.

Thank you for being here and sharing in the celebration of life.

We can choose to have more freedom and self-expression. It doesn’t have to look like dancing in the aisles. It can be whatever rings true for YOU.

We can practice it! We ARE practicing it — together!

Seek celebration — even in the dark corners,
