I’m sending hugs and love your way today.

And, I’ve got a meaningful gift idea for you, too.

This gift is inspired by Sonja Jeanne Peterson, who taught me about it a number of years ago.

Here is a link to the conversation I had with Sonja.

It is a short, 17-minute talk and you will hear all the heart and love that surround this unique gift idea.

You will also hear some variations on it β€” ways that she and I have used the idea with different people in our lives.

If you don’t have time for the video, here is a quick spoiler alert: Buy two candles that are exactly the same. (Sonja and I like Woodwick candles because they have a lovely flickering sound that is comforting. But the type of candle doesn’t really matter!)

Keep one of the candles for yourself. Send the other one to someone you love. Then, when you want to feel close to that person or to “share space,” you call or text them to say: “I’m lighting my candle now; will you light yours, too?”

This is an especially sweet thing to do if you are both grieving over someone who was a beloved friend or family member.

It helps you feel that you aren’t alone.

If you watch our video, you will hear more ways that Sonja and I have made this candle ritual/gift meaningful.

Be the kind of person who doesn’t wait for a special occasion to share gifts of meaning and love.

Reach out today and share some light.

Seek celebration β€” even in dark corners,
