I’m sending hugs and love your way today.

And, I’ve got a simple gift idea for you, too!

💥💓💥

The other night my niece, Tara, invited me over to watch a movie. She and her beau have a projector and a really big screen that covers the whole wall of their San Francisco flat. When I’m watching a movie there, I always feel like I’m having a private screening at a movie theater!

They also have two adorable cats, whom I love to see. So, as you can imagine, it is really fun to watch a movie at their place!

I texted her, “Should I try to dig up a movie?”

She wrote, Nope, I think I have an idea of something you’ll love.”

When I got to their place, my niece told me about the documentary she had picked out. It was called Vernon, Florida by a director Errol Morris.

We enjoyed the film — and the yummy popcorn Tara made for all of us!

And then, afterward, we watched a short commentary video about our film, which included an interview with Morris.

In that short commentary film, they mentioned another film by the same director called Gates of Heaven about pet cemeteries. I mentioned that I would like to see that sometime.

Tara said, “Okay! I will add it to my Aunt Sherry Movie List.”

I said, “Your what?”

She said, “I keep a running list of movies that I think you will like.”

Well, how about that?!

I was so touched.

It really made me feel loved to think that Tara was paying attention to the kinds of movies I like and when she heard one she thought was up my alley, she was taking time to add it to a list!

You might think this is a silly thing to write about. You might think this isn’t really a GIFT.

But I want you to know, this happened last weekend and I am still feeling happy and grateful about it. It has stuck with me.

Her thoughtfulness makes me feel seen and known and loved.

Isn’t that the best kind of gift?

Plus, we all know what a pain it can be to try to find a movie to watch, right? My niece is saving me all of that angst! She is also providing me with a sure-to-be-interesting evening of enjoyment.

What a great gift! Thoughtfulness + FUN!

Let’s rethink the way we see gifts!

Gifts do not have to cost a certain amount of money or be certain type of anything.

Gifts are anytime we reach out with love and thoughtfulness. Period.

Gifts are when we create JOY for people!

BOOM!

YOU can be someone who brings people in your life surprise LOVE + extra fun. YOU can keep a movies-they-may-love-list and share your thoughtfulness with a friend or family member.

Will you do it?

We all need more joy and celebration right now.

How about if YOU are the one to make someone feel great with their own personalized movie list?!

I challenge you to try it!

That’s a wrap! Have a great movie-watching weekend!
