Hey Delightful You!

I’m sending love from snowy Ohio where I’ve been visiting my mom just following a trip to NYC to celebrate my friend Rachel’s 60th birthday!

It is such a wonderful luxury and privilege to be able to spend chunks of time with people we love.

Whenever I make the time and follow through with plans, I feel incredibly grateful. Don’t you?

Do you have some special trips or friend/family occasions on your 2024 calendar? If not, today is the perfect day to think about. Usually, if we don’t plan ahead and if we aren’t intentional, another year will pass without these kinds of powerful connections!

💥💓💥

Today’s audio LoveGram is about what got sparked for me by being with Rachel and a couple dozen of her friends and family. It was a significant event on many levels!

Sure, it was Rachel‘s birthday celebration, but I’m certain I can speak for everyone who traveled from all over the U.S. and Europe, that it was very meaningful for every one of us.

That’s Rachel and me — in the two photos up above. In the one on the left, we were just out of college back in 1986. (The 1900’s!) We were sitting on the stoop of the brownstone we lived in at that time, located in what used to be called “Hell’s Kitchen.” We took the photo on the right after our short pilgrimage to 48th + 8th a couple weeks ago. It was so much fun to sit on that ole stoop together again!

(We even got to meet a few young men who now live in our old place! They said the cockroaches are all gone. Lucky for them! When Rach and I lived there, there were so many — ha ha!)

Oh, my goodness. Friends are always important in our lives. But wow, as we grow older, they become even more so.

Emily Dickinson said, “My friends are my estate.” I love that quote so much!

And yep, that’s what today’s LoveGram is about: the importance of our friends.

I hope that after listening to this today you might be inspired to reach out in some new way to an old friend. We humans need one another more than we remember sometimes!

Like everything important in our lives, friendship is a practice.

Thank you for being here with me and for spending time every week thinking about topics that are really meaningful — like celebrating friendship!

I know you are here because you are practicing to live what matters. You are practicing strengthening your values. You are practicing connecting in deeper ways.

We get to do this together! You help me by being across the virtual table from me every week. I hope I help you, too.

I’m GRATEFUL for you.

Seek celebration — even in dark corners,

xo Sherry

💖 P.S. Thank you to my dear friend, Rachel, for giving me permission to use these photos and to share a little about her NYC celebration. AND most of all, for being my friend for 41 years! (Wow. Such a grand part of my estate!)
