Welcome to your Sunday LoveGram.
Today I send you a fiddlehead fig plant, green and thriving.
I send you a gold glittery axolotl, perpetual grin on its baby face.
I send you familiar sweet tweet from outside your window — a daily visit from a feathered friend.

In today’s LoveGram, I share a poem with you that begins with this phrase, “Back when I had my nose pressed against the glass window of singing as if it were a palace I could enter only through the servants’ entrance…”
I am enamored with this poem. It was written by my talented and wonderful friend, Alison Luterman and it speaks to her journey of learning to sing.
As someone who is struggling right now — and has in the past— to keep going on my beginner’s ukulele-learning journey, I am humbled and inspired by Alison’s dedication and commitment. (Not just to singing, but also, obviously, to the craft of writing! This poem is a testament to that same “sweat and spittle”, I’m sure!)
It is so easy to stand on the outside of that window, looking in at the palace. It is easy to wish or wonder. To imagine ourselves being proficient at something. But wow, it is a whole other level of living to do whatever it takes to find our way to the door and to find our place in that exquisite palace.
Reading this poem is the perfect reminder of something I deeply believe, but often forget — the joy is in the process.
It is who we become along the way of finding our way. It’s how we stay true to that longing inside of us. It’s how we treat the part of us whose nose is pressed to the window.
Thank you to Alison for permission to share this poem. And thank you for this poem itself, which gives me courage to “quiver and croak and to reach for the beauty” — even when it seems impossibly far away.

I know you. I see you.
I see your generous heart.
I know you want to bring more connection and celebration into your life.
I applaud you for being this kind of person.
What is calling to you like singing called to Ali or like ukulele calls to me?
Be intentional.
Be brave.
Be willing to step away from that window. Stop wishing you could be that person. Start taking teensy steps toward the door. You belong in the room of your heart’s desires!
Email me and tell me your first step. I will cheer you on.
Seek celebration — even in dark corners,
xo Sherry
P.S. Please enjoy Alison’s poem that I read in today’s audio by reading it out loud to yourself! Here’s that link. I keep re-reading it to re-inspire myself! If you want to learn more about this beautiful poet and her works, click here for her website.
P.P.S. I’m meeting someone for coffee this week who might become my ukulele teacher! She lives in the neighborhood. My heart is happy!
