Hello my friend!

Today, I send you butterflies, which I just read someone describe as “flying flowers.”

I send you a lemon tree, abundant with fruit.

I send you the sweet sound of wind chimes jingling on your back porch.

Thank you for showing up to be in conversation with me!

I love knowing you are out there and that we share common values like deepening our relationships, having more fun with people, and doing healthy things to care for ourselves.

I love that you want to celebrate life — all the ups and downs.

In today’s audio LoveGram I have to do a really hard thing. I have to (cringe) ask for some help.

I know we’ve talked about asking for help before. It is just one of those things that even though we know people feel good when they are asked to help, it is still so hard to do.

I watched myself feel so weird around this.

And so, I looked up online, “Why is it so hard to ask for help?” And I found a Stanford article.

The article said things we probably all know and have experienced: asking for help makes me afraid that people will see me as weak or incompetent, asking for help may mean that I will feel rejected, asking for help makes me feel like I’m burdening others.

Yep. Check. Check. Check.

You’ll hear this in my audio, but I’ve dealing with a similar Amazon situation that happened a couple years ago. There is an excess of copies of my book, “Say it Now” being sold by 3rd party sellers. Due to this, Amazon has hidden the “buy” button for direct purchase from them. They want to clear out those 3rd party sellers.

Suffering succotash!

Here’s my ask:

Could you please buy a copy or two of Say It Now and gift it/them to someone in your life? It would be a gift to me first of all. And, it could be an unexpected, not-even-a-holiday gift to someone in your life.

You know how some people have “please buy me a coffee” on their newsletters? Could you think of this as buying me a $12 expensive but yummy fancy latte with caramel and whipped cream and extra shots?

If you can help me out — without all those calories and caffeine — here’s the link.

Please know how grateful I am!

This book and its message are my life’s work. It is so important to me that it is readily available via Amazon.

I want to make sure that if someone has a special birthday coming up that they can order Say It Now and create a meaningful and memorable gift quickly and at little to no cost.

I want to make sure that if someone has a Grandma who is sick, they can order Say It Now and easily get all the prompts for making a LOVE LIST  — as well as tons of ideas for how to present it.

I want to make sure that if someone’s friend has cancer or is in the hospital, they find out about the “Greeting Card Bonanza” or the “Daydream Vacation” as a way to cheer that person up while they are recovering.

I’ve given all of these kinds of gifts and I know the joy that they bring the other person. But also, they lift ME up.

Many of you know that giving these kinds of creative gifts helped me through depression and anxiety as a younger woman. I believe in the power of creativity and appreciation as medicine.

Hopefully as you listen to this audio today, you will think about your own relationship to asking for and giving help.

Is there someplace in your own life where you need help? Are you hesitating? What would give you the courage to leap into that ask?

I’m hoping that my own role modeling (even as cringey as I am!) might inspire you to take a chance.

After all, those folks at Stanford say that when people are asked for help and get the chance to do so, it makes them feel GOOD.

Hey, friend — I see you.

I appreciate you.

I love you for the way you want to connect with people in your life and with yourself.

I love you for being the type of person I can be vulnerable with.

Your beautiful heart sings out loud. Your colorful spirit sparkles.

Today, will you practice asking for help and receiving help?

 I’m here, practicing with you!

Seek celebration — even in dark corners,

xo Sherry
