It's my birthday today. And I need your help celebrating.

Some of you may remember that last year life dropped in the idea of Project Kindness: 48-48-48. I offered 48 acts of kindness in 48 hours to 48 people. It was absolutely THE best way to celebrate my birthday.

I'm gonna copycat myself this year, with a couple small twists. I want to offer 49 acts of kindness to 49 people. But I want to be a bit gentler on myself and give myself 49 days. Last year was exhilarating, but also, darned exhausting. I figure if I give myself a bit more time than I can also stretch out that feel-good period of time.

The other change I want to make is that this year I want to make all my acts of kindness this: sending handwritten cards via the old-fashioned delivered-by-a-mailperson system. I know for myself how thrilling it is to receive an actual card in the mail when so much communication these days is digital, digital, digital.

So here's where I need your help:

Is there someone in your life who needs a boost or who deserves a "yahoo!?" Is someone going through a hard time and they need a little kindness of strangers? Is there someone you want to appreciate for who they are, not what they do? You wanna celebrate someone? Tell someone how awesome they are? Have me send a virtual hug?

If so, here's what to do:

  • Email me the full name of the person you want me to send a card out to.
  • Include their street address, apt #, P.O. box, city, state, zip and all that jazz.
  • Tell me the reason why you want them to receive a lil kindness.

Am grateful for your help. And appreciative that I get to celebrate with YOU.
