Learn To Be Quiet  (Franz Kafka)

You need not do anything.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
You need not even listen, just wait.
You need not even wait,
just learn to be quiet, still and solitary.
And the world will freely offer itself to you unmasked.
It has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.

I am packing up to head out to a silent retreat at a beautiful Zen monastery in the Sierra foothills. It is a week of meditation, self-care, healthy foods, and turning inward. At the monastery there is no access to email, computers, ipads, television, radio, or other communication. Ahhh.

Is there a way for you to find a way to stop — even for ten minutes? TIme to lie under a tree or walk down a quiet lane or just sit in a chair, doing nothing?

I encourage you to allow yourself the luxury of stopping.

See you when I return next week!
