Make someone great.

08-26-2011

"Make someone great."

That line/philosophy was passed onto me this week in my mastermind coaching call. I can't stop thinking about it. It is so simple, yet so absolutely amazing as a life practice.

A compliment. An offer of help. A surprise sunflower on her desk at work. Looking him in the eye when he speaks. Reflecting back what she says. A bowl of steaming soup when he's sad. Enthusiasm for something they're excited about. Acceptance of something that may be hard to hold. Unconditional love, even when it is hard. The words "yes, I believe in you, I trust you, I know you can, I am sure of you, I love you, you're right, you're amazing." A hand on the small of her back when she's scared. A wink. A high five. A handwritten note that says, "I know you can do it." Going to her art show. Going to hear his speech. Buying the magazine in which his poem is published. A gift that encourages her budding dream. A homemade meal, which celebrates those hard steps she took. A simple lift of the glass (clink-clink): "to you, for this, for who you are, for what you're doing, for the way you tried, for the way you are."

Right now. In this moment, what simple thing can you do to make someone in your life great? Do it. Don't wait.

(Didya notice what happened when you made someone great? You automatically got great, too. Not a bad deal at all.)
