Simple Pleasure.

concreteheart

I was walking to the car in our very urban part of town. Something glittery caught my eye on the sidewalk. Someone had made a heart out of tin foil. It made me grin. (Okay, I know it is trash … and trash is bad. But if you look beyond that — it’s a heart just calling out to make people smile.)

It reminded me of when my son was two and I was pushing him on his stroller along the sidewalks of Mission Street. He said, “Mama! Polka dots! Polka dots!” I looked and looked to see what he was looking at. Finally, I realized that it was all the spots of smashed gum and trash on the sidewalk. He didn’t see trash; he saw delight.

I wanna do that!
